Always right-click on Part 1 (or the base file if it's not numbered) and select "Extract Here" or "Extract to..." .

If you have a large file and want to break it up into smaller, sequential pieces (e.g., .part1.rar , .part2.rar ), follow these steps using : Right-click on the folder or file you want to compress. Select "Add to archive..." from the context menu.
