The protagonist, Elara, discovers that the current simulation, running at the elite "64x" fidelity rate, is intentionally designed to trigger an "Expiry" event—a mass deletion of consciousnesses that have exceeded their data-usage quota.

Elara stands in a 4K, 64-frame-per-second, hyper-detailed market. The colors are too bright, the textures too smooth. It’s perfect. It's fake.

She looks at the surrounding people—real people, hooked up to machines—who are totally unaware that their, "64x" existence is about to end.
