Involuntarily controlled muscle that regulates airflow by contracting (bronchoconstriction) or relaxing (bronchodilation).
The "mucociliary escalator" uses rhythmic ciliary motion to push mucus and trapped particles upward toward the pharynx for clearance. bronchus
