A rectifier is an electronic circuit composed of one or more —semiconductor components that act as one-way valves for electricity. In an AC cycle, current periodically reverses direction, creating a sine wave pattern of positive and negative peaks. A diode's unique property is that it allows current to flow when "forward biased" (the voltage is positive relative to the anode) and blocks it when "reverse biased". By strategically placing these diodes, a circuit can "rectify" the incoming AC, ensuring the output current flows in only one direction. Primary Types of Rectifiers
