The lead writer noted the story explores the struggle of young adults seeking identity in a world where they feel lost. Jason finds "purpose" through violence because he has no direction in his real life.
After escaping a cage with his brother Grant, Jason watches Grant be murdered by Vaas. Forced to flee alone into the jungle, Jason is a "tabula rasa"—he has never killed before and is consumed by fear.
The "deep story" behind this clip is a transformation from a sheltered, entitled vacationer into a cold-blooded killer. fc3.mp4
Many fans believe Vaas is a mirror of Jason . Vaas was once a Rakyat warrior who lost his mind; the game suggests Jason is following that exact same path.
Jason and his friends are on a thrill-seeking vacation in the Rook Islands . While skydiving, they land in territory controlled by a sadistic pirate named Vaas Montenegro . The lead writer noted the story explores the
By the end, Jason's friends are terrified of him. He has become more like his enemies than the person he was at the start of the "fc3.mp4" vacation footage.

To save his remaining friends, Jason joins the Rakyat tribe . He receives the Tatau , a magical/symbolic tribal tattoo that grows as the player gains skills. Each kill desensitizes him, eventually turning him into a warrior who "craves bloodshed" more than he cares about actually leaving the island. Themes and Hidden Depth The story is often analyzed for its psychological layers:
| 1. | During a long programming session, it is highly recommended that you periodically save the system data to the SD Memory Card. If the PBX undergoes a sudden power failure or if the system is reset for some reason, all the system data in RAM will be lost. However, if system data has been saved to the SD Memory Card, it can be easily restored. To save the system data to the SD Memory Card, (1) click the "SD Memory Backup" icon before resetting the PBX or turning off the power, or (2) exit the Maintenance Console so that the PBX automatically saves the system data. |
|
| 2. | The PC will not perform any shutdown operation, or enter the power-saving system standby mode while the Maintenance Console is connected to the PBX. To perform either of the operations above, first close the connection to the PBX. |
| Do not remove the SD Memory Card while power is supplied to the PBX. Doing so may cause the PBX to fail to start when you try to restart the system. |
| To maintain system security, system passwords are required to access certain programming functions of the PBX. By giving different users access to different passwords, it is possible to control the amount of programming that each user is able to perform. The following types of system passwords are available: |
