Narnia has been conquered by a race of humans called Telmarines. They have silenced the "Old Narnians" (the talking beasts, dwarves, and fauns), driving them into hiding. The land is ruled by the cruel King Miraz , who has usurped the throne from the rightful heir: his nephew, Prince Caspian .
