Kotonogahara was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. She developed an interest in voice acting at a young age and began pursuing a career in the field after completing her high school education. In 2012, she joined the voice acting agency, Office D&I, and made her debut as a voice actress in the anime series "The Pet Girl of Sakurasou."

Kotonogahara's breakthrough role came in 2013 when she voiced the character of Naruko Nanasawa in the anime series "The Devil is a Part-Timer!" Her performance in the series earned her recognition and praise from fans and critics alike.
